Private Tours

On a private tour, the vehicle and guide are only for you and your group. You choose the start time, spend longer where you like and skip what does not interest you. Your guide collects you from your hotel and brings you back at the end of the day.

Types of private tour

• Private day tours. The Cape Peninsula, the Winelands, the city and Table Mountain, Soweto, Pretoria, Durban and more.
• Chauffeur services. A car and driver by the day, for meetings, shopping or a day you plan yourself.
• Airport transfers. Private transfers from Cape Town International Airport to your hotel.
• Multi-day private trips. Road trips such as the Garden Route with your own driver-guide and hotels chosen for you.
• Private safaris. Many safari lodges can give you a private vehicle and ranger, at extra cost.

Who private tours suit

• Families with young children, who need flexible timing and breaks.
• Travellers with limited mobility, as the guide can plan short walks and close drop-offs.
• Photographers who want to wait for the light.
• Couples marking a special occasion.
• Anyone with a particular interest, such as wine, history, birds or food.

Private or shared?

For one or two people a private tour costs more than a shared one. For families and groups of four or more, the difference is often small. If you are travelling alone or on a budget, see small-group tours.

• A full-day private tour usually lasts about 8 to 10 hours.
