What you can expect

Expose yourself to the thick vines and bamboo forests as you trek the groups of mountain gorilla that are found here. Encounter the fascinating primates in the heart of the World Heritage Site known as the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Spend two days gorilla trekking in two different areas in Bwindi called the Nkuringo area and the Rushaga area. These areas are named after the Gorilla groups where the Nkuringo Gorilla Group has 19 members and the Rushaga area has two groups that make up the largest number of members that were split due to a family dispute - how interesting.

This Gorilla Trek journey will lead you to understand how these primates survive in their natural habitat. You will also get to witness the behaviour amongst each other within their families and also witness the incredible moments shared within each other. Get your camera ready but also do not focus too much on capturing the moments but rather savour the moments of admiring these beautiful primates.

Day 1: Welcome to Africa!

Welcome to Africa! Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by one of our friendly representatives who will transfer you to The Boma Hotel Entebbe where you will overnight. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon/evening at leisure. 

Your 1-night stay at The Boma Hotel Entebbe includes a Standard Room with ensuite bathroom and breakfast. 

1-Night at The Boma Hotel Entebbe, Entebbe, Uganda

Located just a few minutes away from the airport, The Boma Hotel is one of Entebbe's most exclusive hotels that offers 15 luxurious rooms with ensuite bathroom, satellite television, WIFI and a private verandah. The hotel has a swimming pool as well as a restaurant and bar that has views of Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the hotel and prepare for check-out. Your pick-up is scheduled for 06:00am at the hotel and you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for a scheduled flight to Bwindi - Kisoro Airstrip. Upon landing at Kisoro Airstrip, you will be transferred to Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge. Check-in for 3 nights and enjoy an afternoon visit to the Nkuringo village. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Your 3-night stay at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge includes a Cottage with ensuite bathroom, three daily meals, alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, laundry, a complimentary massage and activities available at the lodge. 

3-Nights at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Bwindi, Uganda

Located in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge has 8 spacious cottages, ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, a lounge and comfortable chairs on the outdoor private veranda. The lodge is situated within easy walking distance of the trail where guests can begin their gorilla trekking adventure. Guided forest walks and birdwatching expeditions explore the surroundings, while local community visits give a glimpse of traditional life.

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge overlooking the misty-covered mountains. Thereafter prepare for your trek as the guide give a short brief about your trek in the Nkuringo area. Take in the sounds and smells of the forest as you hike up and get to be a step closer to being within the beautiful gorillas. Enjoy the moments spent with the gorilla family and reflect as you return to the lodge. Enjoy the rest of your evening at leisure. 

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda

Enjoy breakfast and get ready for Day 2 of gorilla trekking. Your guide will shortly brief you about your trek in the Rushaga area. Enjoy your trek and savour each moment spent within the forest. Return to the lodge and reflect with the guests during dinner. 

Day 5: Farewell!

Enjoy your last breakfast at the lodge and prepare for check-out. You will be transferred to Kisoro Airport (approximate 2-hour drive) for your scheduled flight to Entebbe International Airport. Upon arrival at Entebbe, check-in for outbound flight as per your own arrangements. (Please note: Scheduled flight from Kisoro to Entebbe will make 2 stops at different airstrips before arriving at Entebbe Intl. Airport)

Know before you go

• Rates subject to a minimum of 2 guests travelling
• Gorilla Trekking permits subject to availability at time of booking – payment of permit price will be required to secure permits and are limited to 8 per family
• Gorilla permits are non-transferrable and non-refundable
• There is a minimum age limit for gorilla trekking which is strictly 15 years. 
• If at the time of booking, Nkuringo group permits are not available, we shall secure permits from the Rushaga group (encompassing the Nshongi, Mishaya, Busingye, Kahungye and Bweza Families) which is a 45 – 60-minute drive from Clouds
• There is an additional cost of approximately $188 (per vehicle) which transfers guests to the tracking start point, waits and returns them to the Lodge
• Single supplement only refers to the single room supplement. Single traveller supplement will be quoted on request
• The rates are subject to change without prior warning if there are any increases in bed levies, park fees, fuel, sales tax or VAT, third-party services or any other circumstances beyond our control in the countries featured in this quote
• The Government of Uganda has introduced an online visa application system. Guests intending to visit Uganda for tourism-purposes are required to apply and obtain a visa online: https://visas.immigration.go.ug/

Single entry tourist visas are available at a cost of $50 (reduced from $100 on 22 July 2016), and East African tourist visas (between Uganda | Rwanda | Kenya) are available at a cost of $100
• All health vaccinations and medications, including, but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccinations are currently compulsory for entry into Uganda. All those entering Uganda must be in possession of a valid and original Yellow Fever vaccination card
