Tanzania wildebeest migration season is from July to October annually and is the greatest safari spectacle in the world, when more than 2-million strong wildebeest, zebra and gazelle cross over the Mara River from Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya. Ngorongoro Crater is a wildlife-rich UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest intact caldera in the world. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places to see the Big 5 in Africa, such as lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino, but there is also an abundance of other smaller animals such as zebra, wildebeest, hyena, eland, gazelle, giraffe, hippo, antelope, etc. Tarangire National Park is famous for its large herds of elephants of up to 3000 in the park, whilst peak season sees a number of wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, gazelle, kudu, eland, leopard and cheetah.

Day 1: "Karibu!" Welcome to Africa!

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Tanzania, one of our friendly representatives will be waiting in the arrivals terminal to transfer you to your one night's accommodation at Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge. Arusha Coffee Lodge can be found on the edge of Arusha in the middle of one of the largest coffee plantations in Tanzania. Arriving at the lodge you will check-in at your suite and spend the rest of the day at your own leisure, relaxing in the swimming pool, enjoying a wellness treatment in the Spa or a walk in the beautiful garden on the estate. There are also half-day tours available. Dinner will be enjoyed at the hotel.

Your one night stay at Arusha Coffee Lodge includes accommodation, meals, drinks (mineral water, soft drinks, juices, tea/coffee, beer, house wines and selected spirits) and laundry services at the property. 

1-Night at Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge, Arusha

Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge, situated on the expansive grounds of one of the largest coffee plantations in Tanzania, consists of 18 Plantation Rooms and 12 Plantation Suites, each with ensuite bathrooms, verandahs, log fire, satellite TV and a mini-bar. There are two restaurants, The Grillroom and The Bistro, both serving delicious culinary delights to tantalize the pallet.  

Day 2 - 3: Tarangire National Park Safari Tours

Early the next morning after breakfast and a Bean-to-Cup Coffee Tour and Shanga Cultural Experience, you will enjoy lunch at the hotel. At 14:00pm you will depart to Kuro Airstrip where you will charter a scheduled flight to Tarangire National Park. Arriving at the Tarangire Airstrip you will be transferred via a game drive to Tarangire Treetops where you will check-in. In the evening you will enjoy a traditional Maasai Boma Dinner. The following morning after breakfast you will enjoy a visit to the Maasai Village for a cultural tour. Thereafter embark on an exciting morning shared game drive and lunch will be back at the lodge. After lunch, you will embark on a guided walking safari and sundowners.  After sundowners, you will take a night game drive back to the lodge for dinner.

With one of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania, East Africa, Tarangire is home to more than 3000 elephants, and during the dry season the Tarangire River, being the only source of water for the wildlife, experiences the migration of the wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and kudu, as well as predators such as lion, leopard and hyena. There are over 550 bird species, making this a bird lover's paradise. Tarangire National Park offers one of the best game viewing experiences, away from the crowds. Included activities are shared game drives in 4x4 custom vehicles, night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals and sundowners and cultural visits.

2-Nights at Elewana Tarangire Treetops Safari Tours

Elewana Tarangire Treetops is located on its own in a 312 square kilometer private wildlife area on the border of the Tarangire National Park, and boasts 20 luxury tented rooms on elevated platforms. Each suite has an ensuite bathroom, a private balcony, and are either sunset-facing, sunrise-facing or boast amazing views of the camp's watering hole and animal trail. There is a swimming pool, lounge, bar, dining room, and a watering hole where wild animals come streaming in to quench their thirst, much to the delight of their onlookers. 

Day 4 - 5: Ngorongoro Crater Safari Tours

After breakfast, we depart from Tarangire after checking out for our transfer to Kuro Airstrip via our final game drive in Tarangire, including a picnic lunch. We schedule a charter flight to Manyara Airstrip, where you will be welcomed by one of our friendly representatives and transferred to The Manor at Ngorongoro in time for high tea. After freshening up and a relaxing early evening, we enjoy dinner at the lodge. The following morning after breakfast we embark on a Ngorongoro Crater tour including a picnic lunch in the Crater. After lunch we return to the lodge to relax and freshen up before a private dining experience at the lodge.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is unofficially an "Eighth Wonder of the World". Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places to see the Big 5 in Africa, such as lion, leopard, elephants, rhino and buffalo, as well as other animals like zebra, wildebeest, hyena, eland, gazelle, giraffe, hippo, antelope, etc. There are also more than 400 bird species, much to the delight of bird-lovers who explore the area annually. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact caldera on earth, and the crater rim is made up of lush, mountain forest and coffee plantations and offers the highest density of wildlife in Africa. Included activities are shared game drives to Ngorongoro Crater, day excursions to Lake Manyara National Park, day excursions to Olduvai Gorge, bush lunches, horse riding, coffee tours and guided nature walks.

2-Nights at Elewana The Manor Ngorongoro, Shangri-La Coffee Estate, Ngorongoro Crater

Elewana The Manor Ngorongoro is located on one of the oldest coffee plantations in East Africa and is the most opulent properties on the safari circuit. There are 18 individual guest rooms in 9 manor cottages and 1 stable cottage for families with 3 guest rooms. Each cottage suite has a sitting room, fireplace and an enormous bathroom and there are 2 bathrooms in the stable family cottage. There is a swimming pool, cinema, billiards room, bar, dining room, Spa and horse stable.

Day 6 - 7: Serengeti National Park Migration Safari!

Soon after breakfast at the lodge, we visit Lake Manyara National Park on our way to Manyara Airstrip. On our way, we enjoy a picnic lunch in Lake Manyara National Park before arriving at the Manyara Airstrip. From there we charter a scheduled flight to Serengeti National Park. Upon our arrival at Serengeti Airstrip, you will be welcomed by one of our friendly representatives and transferred to either Serengeti Migration Camp or Serengeti Pioneer Camp, just in time for sundowners. After sundowners, it is time for dinner at the camp. The following day we enjoy breakfast at the camp and set off on a shared game drive in Serengeti National Park with lunch in the bush. After lunch, we return to the lodge to spend a relaxing late afternoon, freshen up and enjoy a starlit dinner under African sky.

The highlight of our East African safari tours must surely be the Serengeti National Park safari! Either in migration season or out of season, our Serengeti safari tours never disappoint, presenting and abundance of wildlife throughout the year. There is no photo or video that prepares you for that first sighting of more than two million-strong wildebeest, zebra and gazelle crossing from the Serengeti over the Mara River and into the Masai Mara. This is one of the most incredible safari experiences in the world, and in Tanzania, the great migration season is from July to October annually. The Serengeti National Park is the oldest national park in Tanzania and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spot the Big 5 animals as well as cheetah, hyena, giraffe, antelope and gazelle. Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp can be found on a rocky outcrop in the Serengeti overlooking the Serengeti plans close to Moru Kopjes. There are 12 safari tents with ensuite bathrooms including steaming hot solar-heated showers and a personal room attendant. There is a bar, lounge, swimming pool and dining room.

(Alternative No.2) 2-Nights at Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp, Serengeti National Park

Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp can be found along the banks of the Grumeti River, overlooking a kopje and sweeping plains across the river. There are 20 spacious canvas tents on elevated hardwood floor platforms and wrap-around verandas. The camp boasts year-round viewing of the incredible game including the migration and the big five. There is a swimming pool, lounge, bar and dining room.

Day 8: Farewell!

Early in the morning, we enjoy our final shared game drive on the Serengeti plains, followed by breakfast and lunch at the camp. After lunch, we depart to the Serengeti Airstrip via a shared game drive for our flight to Arusha Airport at 16:00 pm. Upon our arrival in Arusha, we will receive a road transfer to Arusha Coffee Lodge. Depending on your outbound flight, there is time to refresh in a day room at Arusha Coffee Lodge. In the evening you will receive a road transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. We bid you a fond farewell until we meet again next time.
