## Description

A Robben Island ticket at the South African resident rate. You'll need to show a South African ID when you board.

Ferries leave from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. The crossing takes about half an hour each way. On the island, a bus tour takes you past the lime quarry where prisoners worked, the house where Robert Sobukwe was held, and other sites. A former political prisoner then guides you through the maximum security prison, including Nelson Mandela's cell.

Allow about 4 hours 30 minutes in total. Bring a jacket, as the weather on the water can change quickly, and comfortable shoes for the short walks. Trips are cancelled in rough seas; if that happens you'll be offered another date or a refund.

Transfers to the ferry, meals and drinks aren't included.
