South Africa boasts of rich history and culture and you will get to experience this on this two day tour. We will start in Soweto and explore this city and what it has to offer. Get to see Nelson Mandela's Home as well as Desmond Tutu, learn more about the Hector Pietersen Museum and experience African cuisine at one of the local restaurants on the famous Vilakazi Street. On the second day, learn more about humankind evolution and enjoy a guided tour of the Sterkfontein Caves which is home to the famous 'Mrs Ples' and 'Little Foot' and thousands of fossils that were discovered.

Day 1: Soweto Full Day Tour with Apartheid Museum Visit

You will be collected from your hotel in Johannesburg between 09:00am-09:30am for a mind-blowing experience in Soweto. On your way to Soweto, you will pass by the famous FNB Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Soccer World Cup. From there, you will enter the Diepkloof area and proceed to Orlando West, where you will drive past Nelson Mandela's Home as well as Desmond Tutu's Home. A visit to Hector Pietersen Museum museum will be done as well as a stop on Vilakazi Street where we will enjoy a local Africa cuisine lunch. For you to truly experience the full history and heritage of this famous township, our tour will take you into the depths of the shanty towns where you get to interact with some of the locals and see how they live. You will drive past the Soweto Campus of the Johannesburg University and end off our tour with a stop at the largest hospital in the world: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. You will visit the world famous Apartheid Museum where you will learn about the history of South Africa and the struggle of its people during the apartheid era and then you will be dropped off at your hotel in Johannesburg after the tour. 

Day 2: The Cradle of Humankind, Sterkfontein Caves and Maropeng Visitors Centre

You will be collected from your hotel in Johannesburg for an evolutionary day tour. The tour starts at the Sterkfontein Caves which is the site of some of the most important discoveries concerning the evolution of man and have been declared a World Heritage Site. If it’s true that Africa is the cradle of all mankind, and most palaeontologists believe this to be so, then Sterkfontein Caves is surely one of the continent’s sacred sites. From there, we will proceed to the Maropeng Visitors Centre Maropeng Visitors Centre which is an exhibition site that takes you back with every detail of the first known findings of human.
