Private or group tour?

 One of the first choices to make when planning Cape Town is whether to join a group tour or book a private one. Both cover the same main sights, from Table Mountain to the Cape of Good Hope. The difference is in cost, flexibility and who you share the day with.

 Private tours

 On a private tour the vehicle and guide are yours for the day. You choose where to stop and for how long, and the guide can answer questions and adjust the day as you go, for example moving Table Mountain to the afternoon if the cableway is closed by wind. Private tours suit families, couples on a special trip, photographers and anyone who walks slowly or wants to linger.

 Our private Cape Peninsula tour costs from $130 per person. If you would rather plan your own day, a private guide-driver costs from $195 per vehicle, which works out cheaper for a group of three or four.

 Group tours

 Group tours follow a fixed route with a guide, in a minibus with other travellers. They cost much less and you don't have to plan anything, and many people enjoy meeting other travellers. The trade-off is less time at each stop and no choice of route.
